May 2008 - Kathy Buckley, CPA, MBA, joined the staff at Canty Financial Managment and will lead our Corporation Tax Division. Kathy obtained her Bachelors in Accounting at the University of Rochester, and her Master's in Business Administration at the State University of New York at Oswego. Please contact Kathy with any questions or concerns related to business tax planning.

January 2008 - Kathy Flynn obtained her IRS Enrolled Agent license through the US Department of Treasury. This is a great achievement for Kathy, and it allows her to represent taxpayers before the IRS. Enrolled Agents adhere to a code of ethics and professional conduct, and are required by IRS to take Continuing Professional Education. Like attorneys and Certified Public Accountants, Enrolled Agents are governed by Treasury Circular 230 in their practice before the IRS.

June 2007 - Canty Financial Management reached the $30 million milestone of assets under management, and became a Registered Investment Advisor under the rules and regulations of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The SEC regulates advisors with assets over $30 million, and prior the reaching this threshhold our firm was regulated by the NYS Attorney General.

January 2007 - Bill Canty, immediate past chairman of the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce, was honored by 515 friends and colleagues at the 89th annual chamber dinner. Bill served on the chamber's board of directors as treasurer, and chairman-elect, before his election as board chairman. The Saratoga Chamber is one of the largest in NY State with over 3,000 members.

December 2006 - CFM employees Maureen Walsh and Tina Alteri both passed the NASD Series 65 exam, and became licensed as Registered Investment Advisor Representatives for Canty Financial Management..

January 2005 - Canty Financial Management opened new offices in Naples, Florida. We are located at 5100 Tamiami Trail at the Naples Executive Suites and our phone number is 239-435-0090.

July 2004 - Bill Canty served as President of the Ballston Spa Rotary Club. Rotary initiates community projects that address some of today’s critical issues such as violence, AIDS, hunger, and health care.

September 11, 2001 - Bill's brother Mike Canty was working on the 92nd floor of the World Trade Center and became an innocent victim of the terrorist attacks. To honor his legacy the Canty family established the Michael Canty Memorial Fund, to fund scholarships and awards that Mike would have wanted.
